May the 4th be with you...

May 4th 2014...the von P family set off on a journey from the most isolated city in the world, Perth, Australia. We used three planes, one taxi and our legs to arrive on the other side of the planet, in New York, USA.

After a bag drop to our empty apartment, we needed some supplies. A quick stop at DR to buy their last airbed, followed by a flying visit to BBB for some towels, toiletries and bedding and we were all set for our first night "camping" in the even-better-than-the-photos apartment. Over the next days, my computer arrived so I could start working from my new office. Then slowly as the year passed, furnishing and settling into our new home, so it felt like our home. 

With much fun and excitement, came many doubts and and recurring questions. These past twelve months have been amazing, scary, exhilarating, complicated, wonderful, confusing and fun...I can't help but keep looking forward to what lay ahead.
